| Some people say that recruitment is a people business | Read about the articles we've published in UK Recruiter magazine |
Well, it's not a fruit and vegetable business, is it? Recruitment is unusual in that good people skills are probably more critical than in any other business. You could imagine that an estate agent with fantastic stock could get by without people skills. A garage with rock bottom prices could get by without people skills. In recruitment, your people skills ARE your product, and they ARE your service, and without them, you don't have a business.
Recently, we've been working with a number of recruitment businesses to help them to achieve outstanding results through well honed people skills. We've helped consultants improve their cold calling performance, their negotiation skills, their closing skills and their interviewing skills - all without a single training course in sight.
How? Well, we know time is precious. Why spend a whole day on a training course when you've got more important things to do? Let's take the case of cold calling. I've had two situations recently where the difference between average performance and amazing performance was very small indeed, yet inaccessible to the consultant concerned. In one case, the change took about half an hour. In the other, it took about 30 seconds.
You can read two emails we've received recently from consultants who we've helped in this way. Both of these resulted from one hour sessions.
Why? Because the people in question were already able to get consistent results, demonstrating that they had a working process. The process just needed one small tweak to lead to excellent results instead of average results. They didn't need a cold calling training course, or any other kind of training course - they knew exactly what to do.
Does this approach appeal to you? Is it what you think training ought to be like? So do we!
Essentially, we use advanced personal development tools to quickly recognise what a person is doing consistently, then make the minor adjustments necessary to turn competent performers into exceptional performers. Get in touch with us and give it a go - you may surprise even yourself!
We can support you in a number of flexible ways, including ad hoc coaching days and easy access to email and telephone support - when you need it, for as long as you need it.

From a consultant who found sales calls difficult
I would just like to say a BIG, BIG thanks, I feel totally transformed,
my 'phone fear' has disappeared. Its really quite weird, but I don't hesitate
to pick the phone and ring people, in the past 10 days I've picked up 4-5 briefs.
When I see an opportunity I just grab it...its quite remarkable really, because
I've noticed a real big change in me overall, I seem to be a lot more confident
and I don't actually worry about coming into work anymore.
I've noticed a big difference in my day too, I just don't know where the hours
go, and I wish there were longer hours in the day to fit everything in. This will
make you laugh, the last few days I've had lots of admin work, and haven't been
able to get on the phone, I actually heard myself saying that 'I wish I was on
the phone more' can you believe it?
From a consultant who found interviewing difficult
Just a note to say thank-you for helping me make the changes
I have been trying to bring about for a long time. I can't believe the impact
our session has had on me (and I am a great believer in these things!!).
This weekend has been the best I can ever remember. I have spent it on my own
and it has felt amazing. My breathing is much deeper, I feel happy and contented.
I went into town and noticed that my posture was different - striding along with
my head up high. I did meet a few people over the weekend and I felt confident
and chilled out. I suddenly accept myself for who I am and feel good about myself.
I also see my emotions, sensitivity and intuition as something that I can harness
- rather than a disability. I will go back to my counselling session to gain closure
but now feel I no longer need it. I found what I needed in our session the other
day - and I am so grateful for your help. Perhaps now I can be the person I always
had the potential to be - without fear blocking my way.
